Birth announcement

'Birth Announcements' by Neil Burley

I don't really do babies, or baby related cards for that matter! So when I was given the theme for this month, I searched the fabulous sponsor site, Bugaboo Stamps for something a bit less 'baby' - and found Jack and Diane holding their signboard. The image was perfect for a birth announcement. A bit of fussy cutting to make a layer, careful ProMarker colouring and stamped text completed the look.

Oh, yes, I developed a new technique (for me anyhow) for getting a distressed/marble like texture on the sign background using ProMarkers. Place an acrylic block over the area on the image you'd like to distress, and colour the block with the ProMarker colour of your choice - bear in mind the colour will be darker than you expect with this technique - I used Blush - and that it will the mirror image when printed. Lightly spritz the colour with isopropanol alcohol (rubbing alcohol) from a mini-mister bottle - you will find the droplets push the colour away forming the pattern. Immediately print it wet side down onto the card to transfer the effect.

Colours:
Skin: Blush/Oatmeal/Apricot
Blond hair: Pastel Yellow/Sunflower/Gold/Caramel
Brown hair/his shoes: Tan/Cinnamon/Cocoa
Jeans: Pastel Blue/Denim Blue
Her jeans/shoes: Lavender/Lilac/Amethyst
Shadows: Ice Grey 1-4
Pinks: Pastel Pink/Cerise/Magenta
Blues: Pastel Blue/Cornflower/Blue Pearl
Greens: Bright Green/Forest Green

Stamp ink:
Versacolor Pink/Sky Blue

Welcome Baby

Hello there! It's Ria here today.

I'm sharing my take in this month's A Baby is Born challenge. I used a digi image, AKV Baby Horse from Bugaboo stamps. Babies are such a joy and this month's challenge is just one of my favorites.

I colored my image with Promarkers and placed it in a soft pink and blue scalloped and circle die cut base. To add some texture, I added a lace, felt button and flower. I also did a partial embossing in half part of the card base.

There's still time to play along the challenge so grab your soft pastels or anything fit for a baby theme challenge.

Happy crafting!

A baby is born - by Amanda

Hi everyone, it's my turn to share some baby inspiration today, and I've made a card using the AKV Baby Horse image from this month's lovely sponsor, Bugaboo Stamps.  In fact I've made two cards, a pink one and a blue one, as there are a couple of nice details in the image that you can colour code.

I hope you like them.  For more info about the card, please take a look here.

A Baby Is Born - by Claire S

Hi Everyone!

It's my turn (Claire S) today to share my DT make for this month's challenge!

The theme for August is 'A Baby Is Born' and we are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps who are offering 7 digi stamps to the winner!!

Here is the card I made this month:

The digi stamp is from our sponsor this month and was coloured with pro markers, this panel was cut out and faux stiching added around the edge.  The sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse and was stamped directly onto the 6x6 card blank.  I added the pale blue ribbon around the card blank and then mounted the digi panel onto the card front with foam pads.

Bugaboo Stamps are giving away 7 digi stamps for the winner so click HERE to pop over to the linky post and join in!!

August Challenge - A Baby Is Born - By Lindsay

Hiya lovelies, Lindsay here, today I have my A Baby Is Born themed  card made using a digi from our sponsor Bugaboo.

Before I post my card, I have some sad news and some happy news, this will be my last post as team leader and full dt member for Crafting Cafe (for a while at least) as I will be starting an art & design course at college in September and although it was a difficult decision to make I didn't feel I would be able to keep up with all the duties involved with being a team leader. I would like to say a massive thanks to Nikky and Dawn for giving me the opportunity to help them get this lovely challenge started and also for all of the support and friendship they have offered me, they are both amazing ladies and I count myself lucky to have been able to work with them.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you will all join in with our challenge and if you wish to know more details about the things used for making the card please hop over to my blog

August Challenge idea!

Hi there,
Chris here again with the August theme New Baby.

With the lovely images this month being so linear, they lend themselves to creating a card from the whole image quite well.

Iv'e made a Rocking Horse Card with one Digi Image. I printed it out quite large, coloured it in with water-colour pencils and then blended the colours.  When it was dry I added 3D Gloss to make it all shine. I love the shape of this card as you can either let it rock or snip the bottom off in a straight line to stop it rocking.

Have fun with the lovely images this month and I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Happy crafting....
