June Challenge - Love and Marriage

As June is a popular month for weddings, our theme this time is

Love and Marriage

This month, our  sponsor  is

Now, to get the ball rolling so to speak, here's what I created!

I opted for two non-traditional wedding cards. 

This first card was made using a sponsor image called

Such a fun image, I have to say it made me giggle when I saw it!

This card was again made using a sponsor image called

AKV Our Wedding Toast

I thought this was quite cute & funky at the same time

so I teamed it with some funky Paisley Patterned papers!

Love is... tarmacing!

'Love is...' by Neil Burley

It's easy to be inspired when working with great images, and the digistamp from Bugaboo Digital Stamps that I chose this month is no exception. I decided to make a 12x12" background using canvas covered board, and after a little consideration, used a base coat of titanium white buff acrylic to create some texture to work on. I added a generous layer and brushed a basketweave-like pattern into the wet paint. After this dried I sponged metallic gold and red paints around the outer edges to create a vignette effect.

Once all that had dried, I used the so-called tarmac technique to highlight the textures and blend the colours together as well as enhancing the vignette effect - essentially the process is to use a bitumen coating that is brushed on, dried and then rubbed back.

Using the heart shape from the image, I cut a bespoke stencil for the hearts, sandwiching two sheets of 160gsm card together to get the depth I wanted. Using the stencil, I applied Apple Red Cosmic Shimmer Sparkle Texture Paste through and allowed it to dry overnight.

Finally, the image itself is coloured with ProMarkers and enhanced with Glossy Accents before mounting on the canvas with foam pads. A true mixed media piece!

My turn to post some inspiration today. This image from bugaboo just made me laugh :)
I got a little tired of white backgrounds so decided to flood the background with a deep coloured promarker and it ended up making the image really stand out

Hello everyone, Sammy here!

Now, is there anyone else out there who immediately had the Sinatra song stuck in their heads when they read the current theme, Love and Marriage?

There were some brilliant images for the theme by our sponsor Bugaboo. I chose this one of Gus and Stella, mostly because I just love the sentiment! :-D

And I added the second part of the sentiment to the inside:

Its that time of the month, when it is my turn to share my take on the theme for our June Challenge. Our sponsors this month are Bugaboo  and I used the image Love Owls.

I decided to create something a bit different this month using gilding flakes to back the image which has been printed onto acetate.

Mags here with a little inspiration for our current challenge of

Love and Marriage

I used a cute image from our sponsor Bugaboo Stamps.  I coloured the image with my promarkers and added stickles to the letters for sparkle.  I kept the embellishments fairly simple and thought this would make a perfect anniversary card for a young couple.

It's a relatively CAS card from me, as I think CAS generally looks more elegant for a wedding card.

Hello Everyone!
 Here is my June card, with the theme of Love and Marriage in mind, I am using this fun image from Bugaboo Digital Stamps!

I used a silver Gelly Pen on the letters with silver mirri card for the frame and Vellum butterflies background! The silver flowers I have had for years and finally found something they fitted nicely with! 

I hope it inspires you to have a go at something similar!
